Practice

A broad advisory and advocacy practice

Zakir accepts instructions in complex, sensitive and high-value matters from individuals, businesses, families, professional clients, public authorities and government bodies.

The practice is not confined to a single category. Many instructions involve overlapping questions of public law, private rights, commercial interests, family circumstances, regulatory obligations and procedural strategy.

The following are the principal fields in which instructions are accepted. For the forms an instruction may take, from a written opinion to the full conduct of proceedings, see the Services page.

Practice · I

Public Law & Judicial Review

Judicial review and challenges to public decisions, including questions of procedural fairness, statutory powers and duties, and human rights.

The work includes urgent interim relief, injunctions, appeals involving public bodies, and the settling of grounds, skeleton arguments and written public law advice.

Practice · II

Contractual, property, professional and financial disputes involving individuals and companies.

Instructions run from pre-action advice and pleadings through interim applications, disclosure, trial advocacy, settlement and enforcement.

Immigration, Nationality & Asylum

Immigration appeals, asylum and protection claims, nationality matters and human rights claims before the First-tier and Upper Tribunals. Judicial review, urgent removal cases, interim relief and injunctions.

Complex immigration histories, public law challenges to Home Office decision-making, and second opinions on existing cases.

Practice · VIII

Arbitration & Alternative Dispute Resolution

Arbitration-related advice, mediation, negotiation and settlement strategy.

Early neutral assessment, representation in ADR processes, and the drafting of settlement terms, with advice on whether ADR is the right course at all.
