2 · Information We Collect

Information you provide through the enquiry form or by email: your name, email address, telephone number, and the summary of your matter, together with any documents or details you choose to send.

Information arising if you instruct chambers: information necessary to provide legal services, which is handled in accordance with counsel's professional and regulatory obligations, including the duty of confidentiality and, where it applies, legal professional privilege.

This website does not use analytics or advertising trackers, and does not collect browsing data beyond the technical logs kept by the hosting provider for security purposes.

3 · How We Use Information

Personal information is used to respond to enquiries, to assess whether an instruction can be accepted, including conflict checks, to provide legal services once instructed, to meet professional, regulatory and legal obligations, and to maintain the security of chambers' systems.

4 · Lawful Bases

Depending on the context, processing relies on: your consent, when you submit an enquiry; the performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one, when an instruction is contemplated or accepted; compliance with legal obligations, including those imposed by the Bar Standards Board and other applicable law; and legitimate interests, in responding to correspondence, administering chambers and protecting against misuse of the website, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

5 · Sharing

Personal information is not sold. It may be shared with service providers who support the operation of chambers, including the website hosting provider and the enquiry form provider, FormSubmit, which relays form submissions to chambers by email; with courts, tribunals and other parties where required by the conduct of proceedings; and with regulators or other bodies where disclosure is required by law.

Where a service provider processes information outside the United Kingdom, chambers takes reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards apply, and you may contact chambers for further information.

6 · Retention

Personal information is kept for no longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Enquiries that do not lead to an instruction are retained only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter. Records relating to instructions are retained for the period required by counsel's professional, regulatory and legal obligations.

7 · Your Rights

Subject to the limits set by law, and to counsel's duties of confidentiality and legal professional privilege, you have the right to request access to your personal information, its rectification or erasure, the restriction of processing, to object to processing, and to data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any right, contact info@zakir-hussain.com.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.

8 · Security

Chambers takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse. No transmission over the internet is entirely secure, and information sent before an instruction is accepted is sent at your own initiative.

9 · Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. The current version, with the date of its last revision, will always be published on this page.
